When The Night Comes：Richard Sanderson的抒情傑作

在我所知道的英文歌裡，歌名叫When The Night Comes的有兩首，演唱者分別是Joe Cocker(喬庫克)與Richard Sanderson(理查山德森)。Joe Cocker那首較廣為人知，因為發行的時間比較早(1984年)，而且副歌與吉他伴奏還找來Bryan Adams(布萊恩亞當斯)跨刀幫忙，加了不少分。不過今天要聊的是Richard Sanderson那首，因為我覺得比較好聽。

先來介紹一下Richard Sanderson。英國人，1953年出生，因為是英法混血的關係，所以也精通法文。擅長多種樂器，作品多為流行樂情歌。25歲的時候因為唱了Sophie Marceau(蘇菲瑪索)主演的法國電影「La Boum」(第一次接觸)的主題曲「Reality」而走紅。雖說是走紅，但也非大紅大紫，35歲時又因興趣轉往電影配樂發展，故在台灣的知名度不高。

我會知道Richard Sanderson這個人完全是因為聽了Reality這首歌，畢竟是經典老歌，又是著名電影主題曲，很難不被我注意。而我還滿喜歡Richard Sanderson性感的聲線，於是開始搜尋他的其他作品，意外發現了這首很好聽的單曲When The Night Comes，收錄在1990年發行的專輯「Anytime At All」中，是第二主打歌曲。

When The Night Comes當年在歐美國家的成績並不出色，但奇怪的是卻在亞洲許多國家的英語流行榜擠進前十名，有的甚至還拿下冠軍。一個英國人唱的英文歌曲居然在亞洲比歐美紅，一定有什麼原因導致，不過已不可考；不少歌手都有這樣的情形，像當年的Tommy Page(湯米·佩吉)就是如此，不過這不是重點，歌好聽才重要。
